Welcome to PurrPilot ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

2. Information We Access

Location Data

PurrPilot accesses your device's location services to:

• Determine your current location for route planning
• Find nearby cat-friendly stops, veterinary clinics, pet stores, and fuel stations
• Calculate distances and travel times

Your location is processed locally on your device and through Apple's MapKit and Google Maps Platform services to provide mapping and navigation features. We do not store your location history on our servers.

Search Queries

When you search for destinations, these queries are processed through Apple's MapKit services or Google Places API (depending on your selected navigation option) to provide search results. We do not store your search history.

Pet Profile Data

PurrPilot allows you to create profiles for your cats, including names, photos, and special needs. All pet profile data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData and is never transmitted to external servers.

Community Contributions

When you rate stops, add notes, or contribute verified pet-friendly badges, this data is synced via Apple CloudKit. Your contributions are associated with an anonymous identifier managed by Apple — we do not have access to your Apple ID or personal identity.

Trip History

PurrPilot saves your trip history locally on your device so you can review past journeys. Trip history data is not transmitted to any external servers.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

PurrPilot does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Account credentials or passwords
• Location history or travel patterns to our servers
• Device identifiers for tracking purposes
• Analytics or usage data to external servers

Pet profile data (names, photos, special needs) stays entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers or any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

PurrPilot uses the following mapping and location services:

Apple Services

PurrPilot uses Apple's mapping services as the default navigation option:

• Apple MapKit: For maps, route calculation, and place searches.
• Apple Maps: For turn-by-turn navigation when you tap to get directions.

Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Google Maps Platform

PurrPilot also integrates with Google Maps Platform APIs as an alternative navigation option:

• Google Maps SDK: For displaying interactive maps, route visualization, and location markers within the app.
• Google Directions API: For calculating optimal driving routes between your starting point and destination.
• Google Places API: For searching destinations and finding nearby cat-friendly stops, veterinary clinics, pet stores, rest areas, and fuel stations along your route.

When using Google Maps features, your location data and search queries are transmitted to Google's servers. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Apple CloudKit

Community ratings, notes, and verified badges are synced via Apple CloudKit. Data is stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Your contributions use an anonymous identifier — we cannot link them to your personal Apple ID.

We do not integrate any third-party advertising or tracking services.

5. Data Storage

PurrPilot stores the following data locally on your device:

• App preferences and settings
• Recent searches (stored locally for your convenience)
• Pet profiles (names, photos, special needs)
• Favorites (saved stops)
• Trip history

This local data never leaves your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.

Community contributions (stop ratings, notes, and verified pet-friendly badges) are synced via Apple CloudKit and stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This data is associated with an anonymous identifier and is accessible to other PurrPilot users.

6. Data Security

Local data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including encryption and biometric locks. Community data synced through Apple CloudKit benefits from Apple's security infrastructure, including encryption in transit and at rest. We do not operate our own servers or databases — all data is either stored locally on your device or managed by Apple's and Google's secure services.

7. Children's Privacy

PurrPilot does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The app is designed for general audiences and does not require any personal information to function.

8. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Location Access: You can enable or disable location services for PurrPilot at any time through your device's Settings.
• Data Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including pet profiles, favorites, and trip history.
• Community Contributions: You can delete your own community ratings and notes from within the app.
• Opt-Out: Since we don't collect personal data, there's nothing to opt out of.

9. Data Retention

Local data (pet profiles, favorites, trip history, preferences) persists on your device until you delete it within the app or uninstall the app.

Community contributions (ratings, notes, verified badges) persist in Apple CloudKit even after you uninstall the app, as they are shared with other users. You can delete your contributions from within the app before uninstalling.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
